Wheel-End Maintenance
Check hub oil level through the hubcap window at every pre-trip, look for oil on the inside of the wheel and feel for excessive heat after a run. Bearings should be adjusted to specification — too tight or too loose both shorten bearing life. Many wheel-off incidents start with a seal leak that was ignored.
